The prestigious “Monster Mile” award was first conceived in 2004 as part of the Inagural NEXTEL Cup Series at the Dover Motor Speedway. The customer was looking for something that identified the track and would be a unique, recognizable award for years to come, using the existing track monster logo. The original sculpture utilized 60 pounds of clay and was two months in the making. The final casting for the award was designed and poured from a gray particulate that matched the track. Its finished size was 30” high and it was mounted on a black acrylic base with a red mirrored accent giving it a red glow of fire. The monster was sculpted to hold a miniature replica car at 1/24 size. As the winner crossed the finish line, the car was inserted for the award presentation. This trophy has become the pinnacle of all awards for NASCAR. MTM also created mini-replica’s of the trophy.

As part of an ongoing commitment to Special Olympics, both as a sponsor and supplier, MTM has designed and manufactured custom torches for many World Games events. These on one-of-a-kind sculpted masterpieces for the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg carry the flame of hope from Athens Greece to the Opening Ceremonies of the Games. The torch handle is sculpted with symbolic host country images/theme for each World Games. The torch pictured was created for the 2007 World Games in China. MTM’s sculptors created a beautiful detailed dragon wrapping around the handle, featuring the Great Wall in the background. The handle color was a challenge to mix the right hues in resin to achieve the Chinese red requested, but the final results were magnificent. The torches were shipped all over the world from Athens, to the UK, to South Korea to Shanghai. Over 170 torches were made for this event.
